Which fragrance for which weather? Scents by season
The same fragrance smells different in July than in January. Heat amplifies it, cold dampens it. So a quick look at the weather in the morning is worth it.
Why the weather matters
Fragrance evaporates with the warmth of your skin. When it is hot, it evaporates faster: the scent gets louder and heavy notes can feel overpowering. In the cold it evaporates more slowly, and a light scent almost disappears. In humid air fragrance often lasts longer, in dry air it tends to fade sooner.
By season
Summer and heat
Light and fresh, applied sparingly. One spray fewer than usual is often enough.
Citrus, aquatic, green, light florals
Spring
Floral and green, with a little more body than in summer.
Florals, green notes, iris, light woods
Autumn
Warmer and rounder. Woods and spices wear well now.
Woods, spices, leather, tea
Winter and cold
Dense and warm. Heavy scents that would be too much in summer fit well now.
Amber, vanilla, resins, tobacco, oud
Three tips for every morning
- Check the weather, not just the calendar. A warm October day can take a summer scent.
- Think about the occasion. Quieter for the office or small rooms, more for the evening.
- Rotate. If you wear the same scent every day, you eventually barely notice it yourself.

The morning pick in Scentary
Point the camera at your bottles. Scentary recognises them, builds your collection and suggests every morning what fits the weather, the occasion and the season. Your collection, the season, the weather in your city and what you wore last turn into one suggestion with a reason.
